Princess Day

And so as some of you may or may not know, one of our SheZai traditions is to have a 'Prince Day' or 'Princess Day' anytime one of us decides to give the other a treat. If it is a 'Princess Day', both of us will go on a hot date, and I will be treated like a princess. All my cravings, rants and wants will be magically fulfilled. Hehe! Anything at all, from buying a hair-clip to dinner treat to shopping galore, all-expenses paid by the Husband. And vice versa if it's a 'Prince Day'. So yesterday was officially declared 'Princess Day' by Honey and boy o boy was I excited! I dressed up nicely for Honey and off we went to town.

But alas! My eyes played tricks on me from 4pm to 8pm as we walked around shopping-centre-hopping perusing shops. I was still baffled because I couldn't find anything to my liking or taste! Sure there is a sale going on at Zara, Mango, Levi's, F21 and the likes, but most of the clothes are either large, icky and dusty or awfully ugly. Even the new season clothes are ugly. Finally we stepped into Guess at Paragon and thanks to my fashion stylist of a husband who managed to find for me and paid for a pair of Marciano jeans along with a sexy Guess shirt. Both have gold trimmings and buttons and I Love 'em! It was so apt too, when the song in the shop started playing T.I.'s "Whatever You Like"! Haha! Oh, He purchased a pair of ear-rings and a hair clip for me too. Thanks Darl! It's never too late to spoil your wife silly, ey? hehe!

Apart from these wonderful gifts, Hon really took care of me when I was down with viral flu and fever last week. I hate to be sick! Hon is so nice. He bought for me a Nike Windrunner sweater in hot pink! I like! I can wear it on rainy days or during cold lectures. Last week, Hon surprised me with a Nike Heritage Premium sm Hobo bag too! *Phew! I learned the name from him.* Doesn't look like Nike though, right? Love it. The gifts keep on coming from him..... And all Hon said to me was," You have been a wonderful wife! Thanks for cooking and cleaning and taking care of my needs!" Hehe! I feel so pampered as his wife! No, wait... I feel like... like... a tai-tai. Haha!

On my Princess Day, Hon bought another pair of Nike Rejuven8 sneakers in green for himself too. He already has one in yellow and is gonna buy 2 more pairs in red and blue. Being a man is so easy, wearing sneakers everyday. Mixing and matching is soo easy for them!

I think when we buy a house, we need to get a room specially for his kicks. Even his mom said," Banyak nyer kasut! Dah jadi macam bilik kasut!" Haha! We headed to Holland V to have ice-cream at Cold Rock as Hon has been craving for it. Hon bought for me 2 more casual dresses at a shop along the lane. Then a late night dinner at Swensens and we reached home just past 1am, happy. My princess day is over.

My Photo Jog Log

OK so I just came back from my PhotoJog. Distance jogged? About 4km. Amount of shaky, over-exposed photos taken? 150. Therapeutical feeling? Priceless.

Inspired by the movie, 'Yes Man', I tried out jogging around my estate while taking photos along the way with my trusty Sony Cybershot 5.1 megapixel camera. (Yes. My precious camera goes waaaay back and it still takes quality shots.) People stared at me as if I were crazy, but I don't care. Camera in my hand, I jogged/briskwalked/stopped for a bit here and there/jogged again while clicking away. When I jogged past the Pasar Malam, I set the camera to non-flash and clicked away like like there's no tomorrow. Click Click Click! It is fun!! Thank you 'Yes Man' movie for inspiring me to do this. Haha! So here now I present to you my photo gallery from my Evening Jog. Try it. The feeling is just superb! Trust me. Slow down and smell the breeze, see the colours, feel the atmosphere......

Sheikha's Photo Jog Log

I got all my calories back due to the lure of the Pasar Malam. Bought this for dinner.... Oily Fats! DTWERP!!!

Soto Saturday

My Mom-In-Law is a great cook and I just love to see her cook. It just seems soo easy, the way she throws in all the ingredients, like as if a wizard concocting up a spell brewing in a couldren. The way she multi-task, like chopping the onions while frying chicken wings in a pan. Man on man.... it'll take months, or even years, to be a great cook that she is. And I must be one lucky daughter-in-law to have been taught such delicious recipes and how I get to observe and study the way she cooks. Rich in ingredients. I am proud to say that.... 'I am beginning to love cooking.' Well, what more can a husband ask for, the way to a man's heart is indeed through his stomach.... No wonder you see more entries and pix of food on our blog. Sheesh! Of course, with all that food, exercise is a must. Thus, I look forward to brisk-walk/jog 5km tomorrow morning. (Hon, help me out on this. Give me the determination to wake up and not snooze my way out yea... hehe!) - OK, I admit i snoozed. I'll go in the evening later then. I wanna try photography jog, you know, like you see in the movie 'Yes Man', where they bring their camera to take pictures while jogging? I am SO gonna try that later!!! Very inspired.

Back to the topic, today is a Soto Saturday. Meaning... it is my first time trying out my MIL's Mee Soto recipe. I can say that this recipe is an 'intermediate' stage, compared to Mee Godok Godok (don't even get me started on the name, Haha!) or Mee Birthday or Maggi Goreng. Started cooking around 530, ended at 730. I always take 2 hours to cook, and i dunno how or why. But of course, if compared to my lasagne recipe which takes me 4 hours to cook, i choose this anytime. The stages of my cooking.......

The ingredients and the simmering spices in hot oil.

A concoction of blended spices... chicken next.

Getting the noodle prepared...

All hot and ready to eat. Served with Begedil. Cili padi kicap is super hot!

On another cold night last week, I tried out a Tom Yam Goong recipe off the internet. This doesn't taste that great, and I know why.... It's due to the prawns.... Aaaaahh... Like as if you all wanna know that, right? hahaha!

OK OK, I know I know.... enough of my cooking already!!!! I think you'll be bored stiff! Wait, I promise one last one... promise.. If you really wanna know what Mee Godok Godok is.... It's actually Beef Soup Noodle. I cooked this last week. Hahaha! It's nice on a rainy day though. See?

Thank you for your interest in viewing my cooking. Hahahaha!
Woops, gotta go to a birthday bash with Hubby now at Downtown East, adios!

P/S: Oh Ya!! Happy 2009 to all!!! Resolution? What resolution?
