Happy Teachers' Day!

It's times like this that you think back and reflect upon your past life as a student and wonder if you have treated your teachers the way they are supposed to be treated i.e. with respect and dignity. Sure I've had my fair share of teachers, from the matured Mr Geography Teacher who called his students, " You Swine! You laugh like a Hyena!" all in the name of fun, or I don't know... sadism? To the Ms Mathematics who truly care and stayed back to teach remedial just so that your grades will improve as she want to see you succeed in your exams. Reflecting on my childhood days, I still remember my Dad looking up to my pre-school teacher. He will say things like," You are so lucky to have a pretty teacher like Ms So&So. She is so caring and smart. That time I saw her when I cross the road so I said Hi and asked about you." Nothing relevant though. Just wanna highlight that that is what my Dad really said. And I could vaguely remember it for 22 years now.

So when it comes to Teacher's Day, I've always felt that it is as important as Mother's Day. Teachers and mothers are like a united front, ready to nurture and guide us along the way to our destiny and future. Thus I have never felt what it takes to be a true inspiring educator. Until now. The children are all little blessings in my life. I have learnt a great deal in this line. A humble job. No, it's not a job. It's a calling. And I am glad I chose this path. Everyday is different. Everyday is a learning experience.

Not many, but these presents mean a lot to me. They are given out of the purest of sincerity and love. Thank you!

Now I would like to share with you an inspiring video every teacher should watch. I think most would have been introduced to it a long time ago. Click the link below.

Make A Difference Movie

Apart from the hugs and kisses, all teachers get shopping vouchers from the company, which is SO GREAT! Shopping time! Let's just say that the vouchers are worth a pair of Levi's or a small Kate Spade. Hmmm.. Ooh oooh! Apart from that as well, tomorrow, aka Teacher's Day, is a rest day-off day for me!!! Centre is closed! Catch up on sleep...... and assignments. Bah!

Amazing.

I have a lot of cravings nowadays... But i Always have cravings too last time... The last i checked, Nope, I'm not pregnant. It's just those food cravings you get when you started thinking about the time you ate it. I was thinking what to break fast today and I was craving for Laksa Siglap from Afghanistan Tampines, the best one i've tasted so far. Every Ramadhan, there will be Laksa without fail. So I headed down there after work to buy food, hoping that I could buy the Laska Siglap but by the time, it was 6pm, and most of the food were sold out and the scene was like Pasar Malam, with the sellers shouting Lelong Lelong and selling what little they have left..... to end the day's trade. I walked around thrice in the hopes of finding that Laksa coz I am really craving for it, but I didn't see any. I was let down, my heart sank. So i bought other foodstuff and walked home. Just in time for buka. My dad's home too. I'm not really very close to my Dad and we don't talk much. So i headed straight for my room to shower and get ready for buka. Then I heard my Dad talking on the phone with my Mom. "I have already bought Laksa for us to buka. One for me, one for you and one for Sheikha...... blah blah blah," he said. Mom had to buka at my Atok house so it's just me and my dad. So today, I broke fast with my dad, just the 2 of us in the kitchen. I already have the thought of breaking fast in my room, away from my Dad, coz I feel weird around him. But because of the laksa that he has bought, I sat in the kitchen with him silently breaking our fast. God works in wonderous ways. Especially in this holy month. Maybe this is Allah's way of telling me, Your Dad still cares...... It's fated that he bought the very food that I am craving for. Amazing.

Random Updates

I am currently working on my science project due next 2 weeks. Using iMovie is so interesting. However I only have the old version, aka, iMovie 08. Am now trying to get iLife'09. yeah! Math project is up soon too. And this time, the assignment clearly wants everyone to use Movie Maker or a movie application. My creative juices are flowing already!!

I bumped into something interesting the other day at Marks & Spencer. They now have this frozen food section where selected food are kept in the fridge. And among those delicious foodstuff, I came across this peculiarly named pudding. It's called "2 spotted dick" pudding. The picture on the packaging sure doesn't look gross. In fact, it looks really tempting. Hehe! But.. gees! What a name to give a pudding!

Another module completed, setting up corners can be so tedious. But group work is fun! My groupmates are a fun bunch too!

The same bunch went to the 'Then and Now' exhibition at OC to do a little photo-taking for another project. That went chop-chop. And we nearly dreamt of trying out the rock-climbing thingy there. Looks cool! Maybe next time yea!

Selamat berpuasa, everyone!

Convo and Haircut

My my, it has been such a long time since we blogged. To date, we are doing fine. Hon will be graduating next month, which means, no more busy late nights out at school! And maybe on some days, I can have a proper husband-and-wife dinner date with him. =) We are also searching for a home to call our own and indeed excited by the fact that it may come pretty soon. We think we are ready to buy a house. Step by step, slow and steady. CPF, checked! Housing Loan Eligibility checked! Savings, checked! Insya'Allah, target is by the end of this year. And once we have settled that, it's time to start our own little SheZai family. Step by step, slow and steady. =) *blush* I love the sound of that.

At work today, a little girl sat on my lap and played with my hair while I was reading a book to her. She asked me many questions and asked me to read the storybook to her again and again. Then she drew a picture of me and her in the garden with flowers all around. Moments like this may come unexpectedly. Something I look forward to when going to work every morning. *touched*

Recently, my school cohort and I went to Shangri-la to feel the experience of convocation. It was OK. The food was superb. I would love to stay a night at Shangri-La with Hon. Damn Grand.

After the convo, I met Hon for lunch during his lunchbreak from work. I so wanted to do something to my hair which is turning all dry, frizzy and having split-ends. It sucked! So I headed to Far East (they have the best haircut deals around town) and almost ALL of the salons are full-house on a Saturday. I stepped in the first salon that I think would do a good job on my hair. No one was in this one. And a young butch was my hairdresser. No, I am not gonna judge people on the outside. She was really nice to me and she did a great job! Really meticulate and exactly how I wanted it. I wished the colour could be a lighter shade of brown, though. But oh well. I complimented her and I think I made her day. Well, she made my day too! I'm a satisfied customer. =)

Nenek I love you

My dearest Grandmother passed away last Tuesday evening. My heart breaks and I wept and wept till there's no tears in my tearduct to contain my sadness. She was my guardian who had taken care of me since I was born all the way till Secondary 2. Feeding me Mee Suah on the swings, teaching me ngaji, making for me ribena in my water bottle before I go to school, sewing for me those pretty pretty dresses to wear at home when I was little, Sleeping on her bed beside her for every single night with me bearing the heat of the room coz she can't stand coldness, making for me Nespray milk every morning before I go to school, and a lot more to show that she loves and care for me. I love her so so much too but I guess I have not shown or express it to her enough in my doings. I think I have been a bad grand-daughter. She deserves more love, care and attention and I have failed. Allah S.w.t. loves her more and she was surrounded by her children, grandchildren, siblings and relatives who loves her so much. This year's Hari Raya will be solemnly different. I feel for my grandfather who is the most patient man on earth. I feel for my sister who is so far away in another country, all alone. Be strong, Sis. I was in the kitchen cooking for Hubs and Dad when Mom called and said that Grandma was unwell and they were going to call the ambulance to take her to the hospital. Minutes later, my cousin called and informed me of the news. I rushed over to her place and it was confirmed. I broke down so bad. I couldn't sleep for days. I have held back blogging or facebooking because my mind just couldn't find the words to express how I am feeling inside. Even now, as I am typing, I cannot bring myself to describe anything except the fact that she has passed on. I shall stop now. Al-Fatihah. Semoga Allah s.w.t. mencucuri rahmat ke atas roh Allayarhamah dan ditempatkan disisi orang-0rang yang mulia dan solehah, Amin.

A Quick & Snappy One..

The Devils visited Malaysia & were playing at Bukit Jalil Stadium against the Malaysian team. Other than the Malaysians, fans from Singapore & Indonesia made their way up to KL to watch their favorite stars. Likewise for the visiting Reds recently too, Fans from Malaysia & Indonesia came all the way here to watch their heroes played against the Singapore National Team.

If only, Arsenal comes to Singapore or any South East Asian countries, I'll definitely make my way there too but i think that can only be a dream for now cos I know that Monsieur Wenger doesn't really favor a Far East tour. On the other hand, I had a dream come true. Nope, I didn't get to meet any football heroes of my dream but instead I got to meet Kobe Bryant. Yes, we're talking about the 2nd World's richest Sportsmen & the key player from the NBA Champion, Los Angeles Lakers.

Luck is the better word to describe of my dream come true. When Nike announced Singapore was one of the chosen country that he'll visit. I was excited! Well, not because he's like my idol hero or something but it's good for the brand awareness & also the chance to watch his "coaching clinic" via complimentary at the Indoor Stadium.Unfortunately the date for his "coaching clinic" fell on the day I had my Finance lesson. I certainly can't afford to miss it cos it's my weakest subject. Therefore I gave my pass away to my other colleagues. My boss was quite shocked too when I said I'm not going maybe due to me always going for all Nike Complimentary events. Anyway on the day of Kobe's arrival in Singapore, my Boss called me up. It was few hours before Kobe will make a special appearance at the Nike Wisma Store. He asked if I want to take a photo of Kobe. I then asked back, take photo with him or take photo of him? The answer? With him & I just keep on smiling to myself haha. I made my way to meet my boss there at the shop & waited inside for his arrival while his hundreds of fans are outside the shop waiting & trying to get the best photo shot of him. The only unlucky thing is that I didn't have the Digital Camera but only Iphone & the best part was I got to shake his hand & said, 'Nice to meet you Kobe' ":).. Oh well.. I'll let the pictures do the talking..

Kobe, The Bosses & myself ';)

The closest shot I could get

Signing Autographs for the 'Make A Wish Foundation' charity

His Arrival

Big Thanks again to Nike & my Boss ';D
